Horseback riding lesson games/ activities?

I’m giving a little girl horseback riding lessons on our old morgan mare, but I’m tired of doing the sme excersises over and over again. She’s just learning how to control a horse on her own, and I’ve begun with having her stop the horse, and I’ll walk somewhere in the arena, and having her walk to me. I also will tell her that the middle of the arena is lava to keep her on the rail. I just need a few more ideas to keep the lessons fun. Any ideas on games or activities on horseback I could do that involve teaching equitation?

Have her weave through cones (good for teaching steering). Have her ‘barrel race’ at the walk. Set up obstacle courses, such as, walk in a circle around this cone, halt, walk to the other end of the arena, half-circle, etc. Play Simon Says with her (with you leading or on a lunge line); great for helping her find her balance, and also teaching her tack and parts of the horse. (Have her touch the cantle, pommel, stirrups, poll, mane, shoulder, croup, etc.).
Have a "show". Have her walk around the arena, and judge her position, 1-5. If she’s doing something correct (such as sitting up tall), give her a 5. If she’s doing something wrong (ie. hands in the wrong position, not looking where she’s going), give her a lower score and tell her what to fix. When she has all 5’s, give her a small reward, such as a piece of candy (make sure to check with the parents first- if not, give her a horse sticker or something of the sort.)
Little kids love to know when they’re doing things correctly; make sure to give her lots of praise, and let her know when she’s doing the correct thing. Overall, just make sure to keep up /your/ energy as well; they feed off of it (maybe that explains why I’m always so tired when I get back from the barn. )

When i was about 7 or something i loved to play this game. Unfortunately my dad thought i was too old to play it and gave it away to our neighbors. Please help me figure it out.

It was a horseback riding game. You never sawe a person because u were in the person’s point of view. To pick the horse u pick the horse with the color u want ten pick from a list of names. The riding area is all trails with logs and branches to jump over. When u ride u could only c the head of the horse in front of u. Ur job was to look for clues in trees, in bushes, in water, under stuff. It would unlock secrets like that there was a runaway horse or people that u would have to find. I know this game is not the barbie:horse adventures pc game. u could also give the horse treats like suger, carots, apples and other cool treats. this was such a fun game please help me figure it out.

the only time it wasnt in first person was when she got off the horse to pick up something and to give the horse treats.
it definatly is not barbie riding camp because that game came out last year. i played the game i cant figure out almost seven years ago. so it is an older game.

Yeah, before I read your last line, I was thinking it was a Barbie game too. It’s Barbie: Riding Camp. If not, I think there was an older one, but it was not completely in first-person view.

Does anyone know of a website that is sort of like a MySpace for riders? Some place where you can keep journals/blogs/logs to record you and your horse(s) progress. Posting images would be a plus. And I don’t mean online virtual horse games, like HorseIsle and Howrse.

I just found a site that might work for you. I read that you were looking for a place to record your progress on your HORSE. I have horses myself and I love them so much. They are like my life. Anyways I found a site called Horse Bloggers and i hope it works out for you.
